One of the most important aspects of website design for any eye care provider is readability. We collaborated with the ophthalmologist and opticians at Family Eye Care (located here in Victoria, BC) on a new website design for their practice, emphasizing visibility of the services.
To add more depth and detail to the site’s content, we rolled in blog posts that were hiding forgotten in a Squarespace website. We also added detail by creating expanded descriptions for several common vision issues.
Family Eyecare’s previous site lacked many fundamentals of a modern website, such as responsive design, Captcha on forms, robust security, embedded maps, and social media integration. We replaced their dated site with a responsive WordPress website, built using the Divi theme from Elegant Themes. We used Gravity Forms to build effective contact forms to connect patients with Family Eyecare. We also added security controls to limit the risk of intrusion, linked the site to social media, and added a dynamic map using Google API.
What makes it special
The legacy site was lacklustre and not mobile friendly. It was one of dozens that looks identical save colour and street address. We created a new site, while preserving the links from the old URLs so that none of the traffic (aka “Google Juice”) was lost.
