Droptica: Rules module – automatic conditionally executed actions in Drupal 8

News from Planet Drupal - Fri, 01/11/2019 - 09:23
Automate actions on your Drupal-based website. This will enable it to run even more independently from your input. Automated mailing, publishing new content at a specified time and redirects after meeting certain conditions are only some of the functionalities featured in the Rules module. Rules is a tool that enables you to define automatic, conditionally executed actions, triggered by various types of events. What are some examples of such automated actions? For example: redirecting the user after logging in; sending an e-mail after adding content; publishing content at a specific time. At the foundation of the module lies the Event – Condition – Action rule, with one caveat – the CONDITION does not have to be a part of this scheme. An example scheme could be as follows:

Need a website for a start up advisory business - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Fri, 01/11/2019 - 07:32
The Requirement:

We are a startup advisory business (of 3 colleagues who previously worked together) and we need a website for the company - to provide it with an online presence, information about its services, media and contact details etc...  We want the ability to edit, add and remove content on the site as required. We have registered a domain name. We have considered the do it yourself web site options (WIX, Square space, Wordpress etc) but are looking for someone with the experience in web site design to create a turn key solution. We are open minded and happy to take recommendations about the web platform for the site e.g. Wordpress etc. We expect the initial website to have less than 10 pages or frames (however the site might be structured).

The deliverable:

A complete website. Which we can then host and publish.

The preferred Freelancer:

A Freelancer with a proven track record and experience in website development and design, who can demonstrate that they have successfully designed and built websites for small businesses.

Timeframe:

We are ready to commence immediately and want to have a website published by the end of January (or sooner).

javascript, css, wordpress - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Fri, 01/11/2019 - 00:08
Hi, I need help finishing a project.  I have already started the landing page that is all javascript, css, html and angular...I need it finished.  It's mostly done, just needs to add a separate box of content which I couldn't figure it out, images replaced and then the box of content stylized which I already have a pdf to go from so you know exactly what you need to do.  THEN...I need the wordpress site that's there now to be moved in a folder and this landing page to be the index page.

I also need a javascript, css responsive US map done that has pins with pop ups to show the business info.  Then, at the bottom of the page all of the businesses listed and linked to their sites. I already have a map and pins and coding to do this so you'd just need to put it all together and then put it on the wordpress sites. I have pdf's for both projects so there is no guessing. I do this for a living so Im kind of aware how long it should take if you are a mediocre or a pro. I need this done asap. Thank you so much!!!

Wordpress Site: Basic template install & API integration for product feed. Need done ASAP - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Thu, 01/10/2019 - 19:40
We're building a product comparison website and need help with our front end web development.

So basically what we have are a couple of components that need to be customized and tied together.

1) We have a WordPress site with the ReHub theme package that needs to be setup and laid out to look like a rough outline that we'll supply. The basics of it is that we have blog content section, a product search section where users can query products on arbitrary key words, and categories full of products that users can browse.

2) All product data comes from an API we have built that you'll be interfacing with. It is a straightforward REST API that can be queried in a number of ways to retrieve product details. There is full documentation that I will have finished off tonight, follows the usual REST API conventions.

While ReHub supports ContentEgg for product display we can NOT use it for this project and all product detail has to come from our API. While the API could be queried on the PHP side of things it's probably easier to do it with JS client side.

This is an evolving project so layout and some features will change over time so flexibility is key.

Please provide examples of wordpress websites you have built as well as examples of what you've built using api integrations to retrieve data.

We're looking to have this completed within the next day here, so you're ability to start immediately is crucial.

Please also let me know how many hours you would need to complete this.

Thank you,
Jeff

Developer needed to finalize a WP Membership Site - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Thu, 01/10/2019 - 17:22
I have a membership area, started by another developer who has been uncommunicative now.

Need this finished ASAP now.

- PHASE 1:  Free level Members area where readers can access resources mentioned in the book

- This may involve just getting a different theme altogether because I'm not really satisfied with anything right now.

Then, once you complete Phase 1 ...

PHASE 2 ... Fix up my signature / portal website.  I basically have an idea of exactly how I want it to look ... maybe need a new theme for that as well, and populate with some content.

PHASE 3 is back to members area again.
- When the user clicks on certain content, there is an Upgrade option to the paid area

Thanks and please **do not contact me outside of Upwork** otherwise you WILL be disqualified from applying for the position.

Diagnose and Fix Google Search Console Issues With WordPress Website - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Thu, 01/10/2019 - 15:53
Need an expert to diagnose and fix Google Search Console mobility friendly issue. Intermittently getting results saying that "Clickable elements too close together" and "Content wider than screen".  It is intermittent in that the test returns these errors for a group of days and then be error free for maybe a month, then return again.

The rendered page in the Mobile-Friendly Test page shows that the website seems to be missing all the styling. When the test passes the rendered page shows the website as usual.

This WordPress website has had basic SEO optimization using WP Fastest Cache Premium. No CDN in use, but was theorizing CDN might solve the intermittent styling problem on Google Search Console. While solving the main issue any possible improvements to Google PageSpeed Insights scores would be great.  Existing webmaster available for consultation if needed and he created this description.

Vardot: 3 Reasons Why Drupal Distributions Are Essential

News from Planet Drupal - Thu, 01/10/2019 - 14:13
Firas Ghunaim January 10, 2019

Amongst ambitious brands and serious digital operators; Drupal adoption rate on the rise.

Governments and major brands across the globe are already testifying to the positive impact that Drupal has made on their digital business.

As a developer, you might be approached by a client that insists on developing their digital platform and/or experience using Drupal.

Here are 3 key reasons why Drupal distributions will make your life much easier:

1. Time

“How long do you need to complete the project? That long?!?”

Dealing with continuous amendments and changes to the project requirements is the bane of all developers.

Distributions feature tons of tried and tested best-in-class features, modules and components that are already integrated and tested together. This allows developers to successfully complete project tasks that normally consume a scary amount of time to build.

For example; should you be required to build a Media Entity Browser for a certain project may consume up to 6 to 8 hours from your time.

Source: Varbase

Imagine it took you that long for project A... now you have to repeat the same process for project B.

However; with Drupal distributions such as Varbase, the Media Entity Browser is already built-in, optimized and integrated with other modules you might require.

Total time consumed on Media Entity Browser development: Zero.

Thanks to DRY (Don’t-Repeat-Yourself); Drupal distributions will shorten the project development time by hundreds of hours. You won’t ever have to repeat the same development process for any other project.

LEARN MORE ABOUT VARBASE

2. Efficiency

Not all programmers and web developers are equal in skill and expertise. But, we all face challenges and issues that might arise during the project development process.

Drupal distributions offer a wealth of solutions that fix issues you might not even realize you had. Why? Open-source.

For example; you are currently developing an e-commerce platform for a client and face an issue with a particular component.

The fact is that you weren’t the first developer to encounter this issue.

When using Drupal distributions, you will find almost all challenges and issues related to components or modules you may need have been solved and addressed by someone before you.

Working on almost ready-built websites not only saves time but also affords you the opportunity to personalize any ready-made component or feature based on your project requirements.

Take the aforementioned example; you already have a Media Entity Browser ready, but you wish to match it to your clients’ requirements. In no time at all, you can build upon the ready-made feature via customization or integration. Simples.

3. Standards

At Vardot, we refer to “websites” as digital experiences. The difference between them?

Standards.

Drupal has built a name for itself due to the focus on building the best user-friendly digital experiences possible and the fact that Drupal is open-source has enabled its evolution based on actual feedback from various practical perspectives.

Your ability to develop a website (e.g.) the best online equestrian market; depends entirely on the standards you apply throughout the development process.

For example; Varbase is an ideal distribution to develop platforms that rely on rich multi-media content such as Al Jazeera and Georgetown University. On the other hand, Drupal distributions such as Commerce Kickstart feature every possible component needed by a developer to build an e-commerce digital experience.

Case Study: Georgetown University - Qatar

Of course, when we speak of standards; we are not referring solely to quality standards. You will be able to develop the best possible digital experience for any industry using Drupal distributions whilst maintaining all W3C standards and accessibility standards.

Bonus: Drupal Distributions Maintenance

Drupal distributions are rich in features that are all integrated with each other.

You will never have to scour for individual updates for each module you need. All you’ll ever possibly need is to update the distribution itself.

Since all modules and features are integrated. All would be updated and tested together.

If you are considering starting a Drupal project or to build a Drupal-based digital experience, let us know. We'd love to help.  Contact Us.

Debug JS mobile menu - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Thu, 01/10/2019 - 13:19
Problem:
- Mobile menu buttons not working as expected.

Final Product:
- Functionality works similarly to https://demo.studiopress.com/genesis-sample/ by resolving bugs in current implementation. (I know a number of accessibility features are built in and I'd like to make sure we don't lose them.)

More Information:

Reference site:
- Main menu on any page (https://realbalanced.wpstagecoach.com/)
- Other menus on certain categories (e.g. https://realbalanced.wpstagecoach.com/recipe/)

Symptoms:
- When tapping on an arrow/button for the first time, the “activated” class isn’t applied/changed (until clicks 2+)(note that a previously-hired developer has added custom code to the global.js file and, as a result, the main menu "activated" class is applied on the first click, not applied on the second click, then applied again on clicks 3+).
- When opening the main menu in the sticky nav, sub-menus will sometimes be open by default.

Code & Troubleshooting:
- I’m using the responsive-menu.js code from Genesis Sample theme: https://github.com/studiopress/genesis-sample/blob/develop/js/responsive-menus.js
- I’ve modified it (as little as I could) to work with my sticky mobile nav: https://realbalanced.wpstagecoach.com/wp-content/themes/once-coupled-real-balanced/assets/js/responsive-menu.js
- The only other JS I add is to the combine menus: https://realbalanced.wpstagecoach.com/wp-content/themes/once-coupled-real-balanced/assets/js/global.js
- Here's a comparison of the original and new JS files: https://www.diffchecker.com/UXAyaLmY
- Even if I use the demo site's JS and CSS, in place of my own, the bug persists, suggesting maybe it's an HTML issue?
- I'm using Chrome on an iPhone 6S+. If I use Chrome on desktop, Mac, by using browser tools & the device toolbar, I do experience similar issues.

Videos (https://photos.app.goo.gl/AgGSjv341oXv6buF9):
- The 9 sec video is the working demo site. The menu button and sub-menu buttons all change state as expected (down arrow when closed, up arrow when opened).
- The 20 sec video is the staging site's main menu. The sub-menu icon changes on the first tap, but doesn't change again on the second tap. On taps 3+ it rotates, but the arrow direction is backward at this point. Closing the menu resets it, but re-opening sees the same behavior.
- The 26 sec video is the recipe index menu. Its arrow doesn't change on the first tap, but does change on taps 2+ (again with a backward arrow direction by then). (This was the original behavior, which likely differs on the main menu due to the code changes made by the previous hire in global.js.) Tapping outside of this menu resets it. After interacting with this menu, the main menu will sometimes have open sub-menus.

I will provide WordPress and FTP access to the staging site.
