WordPress development for independent medical practice - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Tue, 05/02/2017 - 00:56
New to web development.  Need WordPress build for website of my new independent functional medicine/integrative psychiatry practice.  The site needs a good landing page, will be incorporated into email marketing and online scheduling.  Space for a blog, possible video content.

Ideally, site will have a minimal look, with the ability to easily capture email addresses, and look good on mobile devices as well.

I'm very new to all this and am working on copy as I try to figure out how to build the site and realized I need help with the build.  Ideally, the person involved in this project will be able to ask questions and have a bit of patience with me!

I'd like the site to feel clean as the visual experience needs to convey calm competence to the viewer.

For examples of others sites and explanations for what the practice will involve please see:

WooCommerce/WordPress WebShop Basic Setup - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Mon, 05/01/2017 - 20:06
I am looking for a proficient and FAST Wordpress developer who can produce a webshop, complete with WooCoomerce plugin integration and Stripe capability, for a given wordpress installation. You may use whatever theme you wish however you must first approve it with me. The content for the web shop will mirror the content of another website. Meaning, you will be using the same photos and descriptions as in the model website, but obviously under a different store name and with differences in pricing (the prices of the products are the only thing I will be setting limitations on).
This job needs to be completed within hours, this should not be a long project and I will not appreciate it if you drag it out. However, if you are fast at putting together a working Wordpress/Woocommerce site, and feel that the compensation is fair, I need these kinds of shops developed on a semi-regular basis and we could establish a working relationship for future developments. I will provide a model Wordpress/Woocomerce capable website with admin access first for you to review, so that you can be sure you understand what I need. Once we have established the product category and target site we are going to move content from, development of the site should be rapid. If you are someone who likes to make things perfect, or wants to be developing on a long-term project, this is not for you,. This is highly compensated fast-work that requires pretty much only SPEED and proficiency with wordpress and familiarity with WooCommerce. Commitment to jobs/contracts in the future will translate to a higher rate of compensation/bonus. If you are a WP developer, you will be familiar with the host I will be using for ALL of these sites- SiteGround. You will be givena  stetup of credentials for the WP admin panel.

Dries Buytaert: State of Drupal presentation (April 2017)

News from Planet Drupal - Mon, 05/01/2017 - 19:41

Last week, 3,271 people gathered at DrupalCon Baltimore to share ideas, to connect with friends and colleagues, and to collaborate on both code and community. It was a great event. One of my biggest takeaways from DrupalCon Baltimore is that Drupal 8's momentum is picking up more and more steam. There are now about 15,000 Drupal 8 sites launching every month.

I want to continue the tradition of sharing my State of Drupal presentations. You can watch a recording of my keynote (starting at 24:00) or download a copy of my slides here (108 MB).

The first half of my presentation provided an overview of Drupal 8 updates. I discussed why Drupal is for ambitious digital experiences, how we will make Drupal upgrades easier and why we added four new Drupal 8 committers recently.

The second half of my keynote highlighted the newest improvements to Drupal 8.3, which was released less than a month ago. I showcased how an organization like The Louvre could use Drupal 8 to take advantage of new or improved site builder (layouts video, workflow video), content author (authoring video) and end user (BigPipe video, chatbot video) features.

I also shared that the power of Drupal lies in its ability to support the spectrum of both traditional websites and decoupled applications. Drupal continues to move beyond the page, and is equipped to support new user experiences and distribution platforms, such as conversational user interfaces. The ability to support any user experience is driving the community's emphasis on making Drupal API-first, not API-only.

Finally, it was really rewarding to spotlight several Drupalists that have made an incredible impact on Drupal. If you are interested in viewing each spotlight, they are now available on my YouTube channel.

Thanks to all who made DrupalCon Baltimore a truly amazing event. Every year, DrupalCon allows the Drupal community to come together to re-energize, collaborate and celebrate. Discussions on evolving Drupal's Code of Conduct and community governance were held and will continue to take place virtually after DrupalCon. If you have not yet had the chance, I encourage you to participate.

News from Planet Drupal - Mon, 05/01/2017 - 13:19
Start:  2017-05-02 12:00 - 2017-05-04 12:00 UTC Organizers:  catch cilefen xjm Event type:  Online meeting (eg. IRC meeting)

The monthly core patch (bug fix) release window is this Wednesday, May 03. Drupal 8.3.2 will be released with dozens of fixes for Drupal 8. There will be no Drupal 7 bugfix release this month.

To ensure a reliable release window for the patch release, there will be a Drupal 8.3.x commit freeze from 12:00 UTC Tuesday to 12:00 UTC Thursday. Now is a good time to update your development/staging servers to the latest 8.3.x-dev code and help us catch any regressions in advance. If you do find any regressions, please report them in the issue queue. Thanks!

To see all of the latest changes that will be included in the release, see the 8.3.x commit log.

Other upcoming core release windows after this week include:

  • Wednesday, May 17 (security release window)
  • Wednesday, June 07 (patch release window)
  • Wednesday, October 5 (scheduled minor release)

For more information on Drupal core release windows, see the documentation on release timing and security releases, as well as the Drupal core release cycle overview.

Ajax filtering for Wordpress - Upwork

WordPress Work From UpWork - Mon, 05/01/2017 - 13:07
I have a custom post type on WP which I created using this plugin:

Custom Post Type UI - https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/

I am attaching the JSON that you can use on that plugin to import and re-create it.

This CPT has a number of custom fields that I created using ACF:

Advanced Custom Fields - https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/

You can also re-create them using the plugin and the attached XML.

Finaly, I am using this plugin that can display content via ajax:

Ajax Load More - https://wordpress.org/plugins/ajax-load-more/

By using this ajax plugin, I want to create a "layered filter" so that users can filter posts based on the custom fields. The plugin already has some documentation on this regard:

https://connekthq.com/plugins/ajax-load-more/examples/filtering/ - click on the CODE button and se how it works by clicking on the RECENT WORK tabs.

I want users to be able to filter by the following custom fields:

- Birth Day (drop-down)
- Birth Month (drop-down)
- Birth Year (text field)
- Gender (checkboxes Male and Female)
- Sign (checkboxes)
- Title (text field)

Even though the search should happen using ajax and without a page reload, I would like a SEARCH button to trigger the filter, instead of filtering in real time with each checkbox or each character that is typed.

I need someone who can write clean code. I will award the job to someone who can explain briefly how you plan to solve the task. You can save time (yours and mine) and don't send a long copy/pasted introductory letter that says "Dear employer, I am ready to start..." and instead give some details to show you read these requirements.

Many thanks and best of lucks!
